Could this bride be any more radiant? She looked stunning beyond belief. Not to mention the sweetest and most thoughtful bride. I loved her dress, her vibrant colors for this summer July afternoon ceremony, and her decision to have her guests release Chinese Lanterns at the end of the night out on the Club 19 lawn. I've been MIA lately when it comes to blogging and there's no excuse!! I'm getting ready to have my second baby so my mind has been a little preoccupied with that big event, along with planning, planning, planning and more planning for my upcoming July weddings. Not to mention having a few tastings here and there. Just a little busy, but all very good. I'll put up some more pictures soon, and hopefully get some photos back from a November wedding from last year. They are on their way from the photographer, can't wait!!

Dashing bride and groom, this was the final sister to get married from this family who I've had the priveledge to work with. We had a fantastic team that brought perfection to Ali and Greg's Scottish-Golf type feel of a wedding that the Lodge at Torrey Pines eminates. We even had the drizzle! But my bride had not a care in the world, all she wanted to do was marry her best friend. So when plans changed slightly, it was wonderful to have a calm bride, and a calm Catering Manager from the Lodge (thank you Danielle Murray!).

{ K.C. and Matt } Pines Park Wedding & San Clemente Home Reception

I loved the simplicity of this truly "beach" wedding in San Clemente. It couldn't have been more casual and relaxed, yet strikingly beautiful at the same time with natural accents of greenery and shells to give it that "chic beachy" feel. A cliff side ceremony at Pines Park in the early afternoon of November, followed by a Reception at the Groom's parents home. Our favorite vendors included none other than the remarkable John Partridge with John Partridge Photography. Thank you for all the photos you provided, it was hard to pick a few to post, so I posted more than a dozen this time which is rare...but there were so many amazing ones to choose from!

Thanks also to Classic Party Rentals, the Sweet and Saucy Shop for the delicious gorgeous looking sweets, Kimberly's Flowers in San Clemente and Bernie Wohlfarth for officiating.

I pull up to this location almost every Sunday to go run below along the beach path. I think this is the most striking location for a bride looking to get married outdoors and "by the beach" (which always seems to be a criteria among California brides). I love the Ole Hanson Beach Club in San Clemente. Look up top too, dinner and dancing outdoors, under the stars. Now how perfect is that?

{ Amanda + Jeff } Seagrove Park and Brigantine Wedding

This was a unique wedding for me in that I actually was a guest! I have never been a guest at one of "my" weddings. My friends Amanda and Jeff made me promise that I couldn't do any work on the day of the wedding. They only allowed me to take part in helping with everything leading up to the wedding, but then on the day of the Rehearsal all the reigns were passed over to my fabulous Assistant Elizabeth Meizen. She did everything on her own, like a champ (although we did chat during the day to make sure all was going well!). That little worker-bee did a fabulous job for Amanda and Jeff, covering all the bases and ensuring everything was excuted upon just as they had asked. We loved the vibrant "yellow" that was tied in everywhere. From the flowers, to the bridesmaids dresses (they all picked their own yellow dress), to the cupcakes, chalkboard table names and lemons for fillers in the centerpieces. I think yellow sybolized Amanda's personality - a ray of sunshine, full of cheer, smiles and happiness. Weddings at Seagrove Park are always gorgeous, espcially this time of year. The fun outdoor Reception just up the road was at the imfamous "Brig." We loved this wedding big time!! Special thanks to the photos from the talented and amazing Zach Hodges Photography.

The day turned out to be perfect. The sun was shining, the Bride was glowing, and the Groom, well he was choked up at the first site of his fiance walking down the aisle. The wedding day was perfect for these two who had only close friends and family gather to witness them sharing personal vows with one another at the lawn at Club 19 at the St. Regis Monarch Beach hotel.

It was an honor and a privilidge to attend the St. Regis Monarch Beach Wedding Forum and Luncheon this past week. Myself and a handful of other wedding vendors were treated to an amazing 5 course lunch with champagne, wine and at the end chocolates and more desserts (galore) upstairs in their Presedential Suite.

The St. Regis has so many choices for a bride looking to get married. They are very reasonable in their pricing and would be ideal for anyone looking to have an afternoon ceremony or evening wedding, overlooking the ocean or within one of their ballrooms. Ken and Sue tied the knot just days before Christmas at the beautiful St. Regis Monarch Beach hotel in Dana Point, CA. With the hotel already decorated for the season and all lit up, there was not much more that Sue and Ken had to do, but say “I do” in front of 300 family and friends. Great Southern California weather prevailed and we had a gorgeous sunny warm afternoon for the nuptials to occur outside on the Grand Lawn. Details, details...nautical themed wedding with navy linens, anchors, salt water taffy, woody beach cruiser, cruise in the harbor for the couple and bridal party during the cocktail hour and, even the brides own "5 Sisters" family wine shared as a surprise to the guests. The reception was held at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club in Newport Beach overlooking all of Balboa Island and Harbor. Katie and Chad were so sweet and gracious throughout the entire event, thank you. It is always a pleasure working with a sweet, happy bride (and organized!). We met more than a year ago and they had intentions of tying the knot in Santa Barbara, first at the Rincon Beach Club and then at Sunstone Winery in Los Olivos. They were torn regarding their decision for the best location for them. It wasn't until a fall trip out to California in 2008 and a slight mention of L'Auberge (my favorite venue) that the couple decided to look into getting married at L'Auberge. I can already tell that 2009 is turning into a great year as well with more wonderful couples on the books. As we start off this year, today being the first of the year I must admit that my husband and I have been waiting patiently for January 2009 to come for almost 9 months now! Chanelle and Todd exchanged vows on the Saturday after Thanksgiving at Seagrove Park in Del Mar overlooking the Pacific Ocean on a crisp, clear fall late afternoon. This couple adored and respected one another like no other couple I’ve ever seen before. You could feel the love and support at the reception by all of their friends and family, which was amazing! Simple, chic, eco-friendly and fun was the theme of this wedding. A little Hawaiian flare to the ceremony, a special hula dance by the Mother of the Bride, fun photo-booth, band and DJ that rocked till the wee hours…and yummy chocolate and coconut cupcakes as treats for all the guests. What a wonderful way to end my 2008 wedding season with a fabulous couple! Thank you so much C&T!

Talk about details and beauty...this wedding had it all! Organic invitations, names of trees for the table names, forest like tree centerpieces (see below)...the list goes on! I loved how conscious the couple was about minimzing waste and reducing the use of paper (requesting I provide them with 2 menu's per table). They tied in their Cuban and Mexican heritage with specialty drinks of Cuba Libre's and Sangria - yum! It was a beautiful day in Santa Barbara and filled with lots of entertainment...we had a photobooth, cigar roller, spanish-flamenco music and candy bar!

Rock Paper Scissors Design

I love working with Rachel Baker who is the owner of Rock Paper Scissors Designs. These wine bottle designs were especially designed for the work she did with my client. Rachel listened and created exactly what my client wanted. Adorable save-the-dates in a mini-crate which held an engraved cork with their logo, wedding date and location. The wedding invitation was then an actual bottle of wine with the label as the invitation. Rachel packed the bottle in a wooden crate (engraved on the outside as well) with a tri-fold invite explaining the history of the venue they were getting married at, how the varietal (the couple) met along with will activities for guests to partake in on the day of the release debut (the wedding). The place cards where two corks put together and a name card inserted between the corks tied with twine. She's amazing and has such an eye for unique and creative designs!!! More photos to come...but also a huge congratulations for these pictures of her save-the-date creations that were published in the most recent edition of the Bride magazine.

From the beginning I knew I would have so much fun planning this intimate 14 person wedding that included only immediate family and a few best friends at the San Ysidro Ranch in the hills of Santa Barbara. So much detail and love poured into this day and leading up to it. With gorgeous wine engraved wooden boxes outlining their wedding nuptials sent to each guest denoting the "wine themed" wedding they planned to have, was just one of the many special personal touches added to this day. I had tears in my eyes from listening to the personal vows written by each Wendy and Greg. I was asked to sit and take part in the ceremony...and to my surprise received special mention of the gratitude Wendy and Greg had for my efforts in helping plan and make this dream of theirs come true (thank you!). I couldn't have felt more appreciated and honored to take part in working with this couple at that very moment. One of the best tributes was to "the loves" in each of their lives, their cute puppy dogs, Mr. Dickens and Emma who actually walked each the bride and groom each down the aisle. The couple along with their 12 friends and family dined in the wine cellar toasting to the couple and enjoying (but of course) great wine and food!

LOVED this couple! Andrea and Jeff were the sweetest, most thoughtful couple. This gorgeous wedding took place outside at Paradise Point in San Diego overlooking the water. The couple left no detail behind! Sailboats and starfish were intertwined everywhere...from the frosted sailboat, shells and starfish sugar cookies in apothecary jars, too the escort card table with names attached to decorated starfish. Large decanters of different flavored lemonades for guests to enjoy...a wishing tree for guests to write a note for the couple to put on their first Christmas tree. It was a beautiful wedding and I feel so fortunate to have met this family...thank you Andrea and Jeff for including me in your special day! xoxo

For only meeting Caitlin over the phone 6 weeks before her wedding, we hit it off instantly and was able to get going coordinating her wedding from NYC! With the help from my assistant Elizabeth, we planned and coordinated the best day for Caitlin and Mark. Guests dined under the stars on the terrace of L'Auberge, overlooking the ocean as the sun set during their cocktail hour... then were led by the saxophonist of the band after dinner into the Ballroom for dancing. There was a chocolate fountain, candy bar table and then a few slices of late night pizza was brought in for all. Everyone enjoyed themselves, especially Caitlin & Mark!

The photos are finally in...thanks so much Bil Zelman! What a gorgeous wedding at the historic El Cortez in downtown San Diego. The best florist in San Diego created all the florals and centerpieces, Annette Gomez with Flowers by Annette. The food was catered by Pamplemousse Grill with a yummy dessert bar! Yes, I snuck a bit of the creme brulee. While the music and entertainment throughout the whole wedding was performed by the ever popular Dwight Kennedy Band. The bride was beautiful thanks to her make-up artist Tess Hildsheim. Thank you Kim & Jeff for a spectacular unforgettable wedding day!!

San Ysidro Ranch, Santa Barbara

Being that I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, I have known of this quaint, magical establishment since I was a little girl. The San Ysidro Ranch. It is nestled into the Montecito foothills, and provides serenity and tranquility like no other hotel. They have been around since 1893 and have 41 cottages and suites. All uniquely designed and furnished by the owners Ty Warner and his wife as they travelled around the world collecting decor for the rooms.

Past marriages include Vivien Leigh and Sir Laurence Olivier, while honeymooners such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin more recently shared some quiet time there. But the most famous honeymooners of all would have to be Jackie and John F. Kennedy. The best cottage overlooking the pacific ocean has to be the Kennedy Cottage (named after them of course!).

Small cottages and bungalows adorn the property...fresh herbs are used by the chef at the Stonehouse and Plow & Angel restaurants on site. There is a wine cellar room for small reception dinners or the Adobe or Colman Cottage. Outdoor ceremonies can take place on the lawn in the garden or on the patio of selected cottages.

I'm starting a new section on locations...since this seems to be one of the most important things with planning your wedding! I've decided to hightlight and feature a new location every few weeks.

The two major questions you face when you initally get engaged are... "When is the wedding and where will it be?”

The first decision is “when will your wedding be?” While it is easy to rush into the planning of this event, I always remind newly engaged couples to enjoy this special time in their lives. When trying to decide when to have your wedding, here are a few things to consider:
:: Allow you, your fiancé and your family enough time to adequately plan your wedding.
:: Consider the weather conditions in the various locations during the particular time of year that you want to hold your wedding.
:: Be sensitive to holidays for your guests.
:: Make sure your desired location is available on the days you have selected.

The second decision, and probably the toughest decision is “where will your wedding be?”
This decision is the foundation for which your wedding will be built upon. The location sets the vibe, the feel and creates the excitement for which the wedding party and guests look forward too. The location will establish the basis for which you choose your colors, your wedding dress, the groom’s attire, your flowers and the overall feel and ambiance of your wedding.

When it comes to deciding the location of your ceremony and reception I always recommend considering the following:
:: Budget – Understanding your budget early on in the process will help you eliminate wasted time searching for a location. Most wedding locations will provide you with a cost estimate and proposal to help in the decision making process.
:: Sand & Beach or Snow & Mountains? - Having been a part of many weddings, each location presents its own obstacles. A few things to consider: accessibility for guests, weather conditions, travel delays and guests attire.
:: Reception Restrictions – Two things to keep in mind: Many reception locations will restrict you from having music played past a certain time and some restrict hard alcohol from being served. So, if it is important to be able to celebrate late into the night while enjoying your apple martini, make sure to ask about any restrictions.

So with that...let's learn about some fun and unique locations for your wedding in Southern California!

What a spectacular event!! The creative, awe inspiring, savvy Wedding Chicks hosted their launch party for their wedding inspirational blog last night at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course. Thank you Amy + Jocey for hosting a beautiful event and bringing so many of us in the industry together! Your work is amazing and I'm so proud of the both of you for launching such a perfect site for us all to learn and gather ideas from!

Jennifer Schuemann with It's Your Wedding Day had a huge part in making the event happen - so much detail and beauty went into everything (nice to finally meet you too!). Great music and Entertainment by Vox DJs, florals by Elegant by Design, donuts (yes, I said donuts) by The Fry Girl Inc. who was preparing them fresh on the spot! Amy & Jocey looked gorgeous with their make-up done by Carina at Flawless Faces...who was a pleasure to talk with. The ice sculpture from Carving Ice of the wedding chicks was spot on, amazing!!! Did I tell you I enjoyed the best vanilla cupcake ever?! Thanks to It's all about the Cake!

I loved this wedding because the couple was sooooo much fun! Truly a silly, laid back, awesome couple. Not too mention super in love with each other. Hearing about their journey of finding each other during the ceremony was my favorite part...the personal vows were the best I've ever heard! It was so wonderful to be a part of everything, so thank you Lis & Kim! The wonderful photos are from Suzi at Q Weddings and there was great entertainment by DJ Ian Gotler at Red Shoe Productions. Walter & Spencer did a great job with all the beautiful florals and working with the greenery and natural beauty that Ojai Valley Inn & Spa already has to offer.

Ojai Valley Inn & Spa

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to coordinate my first wedding of the season at the gorgeous Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Resort. Recently rated by TripAdvisor as the #1 Spa in "World's Best Spas" for 2008. Pictures soon to come of the amazing couple...

However I highly recommend this venue and resort for a wedding and even a girls getaway or bachelorette weekend! Nestled 30 miles south of Santa Barbara and just inland of Ventura...it's romantic, peaceful and like no other!

After reading the most recent issue of Martha Stewart I came across some fabulous "green" tips and sites to look at.

1. Think about donating to a charity in lieu of gifts. Give a small keepsake like a potted plant of herbs, tree seedlings in biodegradable containers or edible gifts such as fair-trade coffee or organic chocolate.

2. Buy carbon offsets at Native Energy

3. Create your invitations with recycled paper!

4. When you register, make a note of asking that the gift not be wrapped. Don't allow this as an option for your guests when placing the order for buying you something.
5. Cut down on unwanted catalogs and credit-card solicitations that start arriving soon after you register by asking the stores you register with not to sell or rent your address. Subscribe to greendimes which for $20 will remove your name from mailing lists and plants 10 trees on your behalf.

6. Consider having your ceremony and reception close to each other or at the same location. You won't have your guests driving 20-40 minutes and consuming gas getting there. Think of all the guests who might not be carpooling?

When to send save-the-dates and MORE!

I've been asked this question a lot lately, so I thought I'd post some helpful hints from my friend Allison Howell with Ink Invitations. "We often say that the invitation is the first experience your guests will have of your event. But that's not always true. A memorable save-the-date card can build even more anticipation for your celebration."
The facts:
Save-the-dates (aka "STD's") should be sent six months to one year before the wedding.
Include: accommodation and travel info w/ the STD so this can allow the guest to plan early. Flights, rooms, and activities may not be available if they don't receive that information until they get the invitation.
Necessary or not? STD's are not always necessary but they do allow you to express yourself, inform your guests, and build excitement for your celebration. They are necessary if your event is over a holiday weekend or a destination wedding. Even any events held between November 20th and January 3rd.

New Year, here comes 2008!

We are finally into the much anticipated New Year! I personally am so excited for this year to arrive as I have wonderful couples to work over the next 12 months. Their Wedding plans will take me from Santa Barbara down to San Diego, to some of the most beautiful locations I have laid eyes on. Each and every couple already has made a huge impression on me...I am fortunate enough to work with them and be along side throughout this time in their life.

What is the resolution for myself in 2008? Well, let's see...here are my top 5!

1. Never use the word "busy" to in my everyday life (writing or speaking). I feel it is very overused!
2. Get tickets to the Oprah show (any Chicago connections would help?!).
3. Make 10 new connections with ABC (Association of Bridal Consultants) members at meetings.
4. Get 5 of my couples Weddings published in local Southern California Bridal Magazines.
5. Practice and incorporate yoga into my current exercise regime at least 3x a month!

There ya' go! What are your very own NY resolutions? We all should have a few...it's healthy to set goals and write them down because you're more likely to actually accomplish them that way!

Remember that when all is said and done you have only photographs to help you remember that special day. Ideally, you will have a lot of moments captured from your ceremony. Even the kiss. Just a note of something very key to remember from my personal point of view. You see your Officiant in almost every picture captured from your ceremony. Therefore think about how important it is to hire someone who looks good (but not as good as you two). Cleanliness goes a long way!

I went to the ABC (Association of Bridal Consultants) August member-mixer meeting and met a few talented individuals that I want to share and let you know about. I feel strongly about their work from speaking with them and viewing their websites…take a look for yourself!

Reverend Clint Hufft… might be best known for presiding over the Bachelor, Trista & Ryan’s spotlight wedding a few years ago that Wedding Planner Mindy Weiss did. His approach is unique, creating a one of a kind ceremony for each couple once he gets to know them individually and as a couple. These are the best kind!

Allison Howell with Ink Invitations…she does her own invitations, save the dates and anything having to do with paper. This is someone who’s passionate about her work and loves being creative!

Chenin Boutwell … a talented photography with style and spunk! I love her website and new logo designed by Allison Howell (with Ink Invitations).

John Partridge… who knew he lived a down the street from me and that we had a close friend in common? Non other than my favorite, Amy Squires. Amy is and always will be a personal favorite of mine (because she did my wedding) and I just love her work. John’s work is similar and I admire his eye for the expressions on the happy couples faces!

A gorgeous intimate home wedding was the setting for this ceremony and reception in Pomona, Ca at the groom's family home. The bride and groom are very much in love and was evident by 60 of their closest family and friends who came from as far as Rhode Island to join in their memorable day. The flowers were stunning by 4 Leaf Clover Design and a great talented photography team by Eric Nelson Photography. Can't forget the catered food by Colette's Catering. Were married at Quail Gardens in Encinitas, followed by a home reception in Rancho Santa Fe. Ideal, simple and fresh. Their wedding ceremony was beautiful and performed by Rabbi Ian Adler with Pacific Synagogue who creates a personable and unique touch. The flowers were done by none other than my favorite, Annette Gomez with Flowers by Annette who used a lot of sunflowers and gardenias! The food was catered by TK&A Catering, fabulous food! These two were just adorable! I loved working and being apart of this beautiful wedding. No detail was left unlooked by the bride putting so much time and effort into every detail for her special day. The happy couple met at Taylor Made Golf and had a strong golf theme throughout their wedding (which I admired)! From their placecards being golf balls on a bed of wheat grass to the table names of courses around the world they've both played. Did I mention the groom is Scottish!? He and all his groomsmen wore kilts, so cool! The ceremony and reception was held at the Lodge at Torrey Pines in San Diego. The flowers were unique and beautiful by Haydee's Creative Flowers...while the photography was done by a new favorite of mine, Vallentyne Photography. I loved working with this bride! She was so fun, easy going and never got stressed throughout the entire process of working with her. I love these kind of brides ;-) She enjoyed her wedding day to the fullest, which I love to see! Her wedding was held in Santa Barbara at Holy Cross Church, followed by a trolley ride to the beach for pictures and then held her reception at the hilltop at the Zoo. Amazing food from Pure Joy Catering and a yummy cake by Christine Dahl...thanks to the amazing lighting by Bella Vista Designs we had gorgeous chinese lanterns from above that lit up the night. Photography was by the talented and beautiful Blendi Reynolds of Sun-Dance Photography and Colin Young-Wolff who captured some amazing photos into the night (like this one!). Not to forget another talent, Harmony Towne from Riley-Towne Productions who captured all the video footage. Such amazing vendors to work with!
